Sir David is one of the UK’s most outstanding and influential healthcare leaders, having spent his 40-year career in NHS management and leadership. He was awarded a knighthood in the 2017 New Year’s honours list in recognition of his services. Sir David joined the NHS as a management trainee, undertaking various leadership roles including nearly ten years as Chief Executive of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Sir David ended his NHS career on the Board of NHS England as its Chief Operating Officer before his retirement in 2023.
